Adult Leaders Meeting was pushed from earlier in July to TONIGHT Thursday, July 16th 7 PM. The Google Meet event to be created or rescheduled.
This Saturday
Crazy 8’s (July 18): Registration now open on the troop website for volunteers to help with:
– Medals Prep – 11:30 AM (versus noon or 1pm on event notice)) until done (putting together ~5,000 medals). Candace coordinating.
– Field Day (OPTIONAL): Help set up for field day by putting out toys between 5 and 5:30 across from the finish line.
– All races (Little 8’s, 3k, and 8k): Arrive at 6:30 PM at the finish line for full instructions for all races – VERY IMPORTANT FOR ALL SCOUTS TO BE HERE NO LATER THAN THIS TIME FOR INSTRUCTIONS. Plan ahead as parking may be a challenge!
– Little 8’s: Race begins at 6:58 PM
– 3k: Race begins at 7:58 PM
– 8k: Race begins at 8:58 PM
Patrick and Brian are in charge of all three Crazy 8s races
– Barking Lot: Arrive at 7, accept dogs at 7:30 PM until race is done (Outside the Stadium – babysit dogs that have run the race while their human runs the final length into DB ball field as no dogs on the green)/ Beth is monitoring the lot.
Each station will need five scouts. We would love two from each patrol and more than one station can be done because of the timeline. Wear red or blue Troop 48 t-shirts. Bring a friend!
This is a weather friendly event. Meaning, regardless of weather, the event will continue!

Super Trip – USS Yorktown (July 24-27)
Final payment is due to Mr. Browning. Please see Ginny Hamilton for questions on transportation. USS Yorktown planning meeting on July 21 after Patrol Corners. Everyone registered needs to attend if at all possible. We need to finalize transportation and discuss meals and itinerary.

Dick Tracy Rock (August 7–9): We are seeking families with boats and certified lifeguards for this trip. If you can assist, please contact Brad Moncla.
Eagle Court of Honor (Note that date moved up to August 11 from the 18). Cutoff for recognition remains August 4th for the bulletin to be printed and awards purchased.
Order of the Arrow, Summer Induction (August 14-16) The four remaining candidates need to sign up at Sequoyah Council – Order of the Arrow, Summer Induction by August 10th.
Parents of those working on Scout or Star ranks. Your scouts have a requirement which must have your involvement. “With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide and view the Personal Safety Awareness videos (with your parent or guardian’s permission).” The first item is a pamphlet found in the front of the scout handbook (or here). The second is on Scouting America. To communicate this completion, just sign and date the front cover of the pamphlet (or send a written message if it is missing).
