October 28 Troop 48 Announcements:

This weekend:

CUB SCOUT HAUNTED ADVENTURE WEEKEND October 24-26  

October 28 Troop 48 Announcements:

Bring Candy 

Cutoff date for recognition to be presented at the November 11 Court of Honor.

67 scouts (currently 5 unknown on their intentions,) and 53 adults on the Troop 48 directory.   

Adults, please ensure you are current on Hazardous Weather training 

Expired are Stephen, Brad, Trey, and Brent. 

Please find time to get current, including those with 2025 expiration dates. 

Troop 48 leadership is currently good on SYT for the next two to three months 

Annual Troop 48 Fee:

Fees are the same as last year, $42 per scout and $3 per adult, in addition to national fees. The troop registration fees cover our general operating costs for the year, including merit badge patches, website administrative costs, historian costs such as plaques, etc., and camping costs such as propane, gear, etc. Please make this payment to Mr. Browning by Oct. 31, 2025. 

Annual Forms: As part of renewal, we update the four annual forms. They are to be signed by parents and scouts and turned into Ms. Amy Taylor. Forms available here.

Patrol Renewal Competition – The first patrol to get 100% members renewed, T-48 dues paid, and annual forms completed and turned in will receive a special prize.  

Leadership Corps updates the parent communication board; in the gym during troop meetings!!! 

It’s time to think about summer ☀️Camp Davy Crockett Summer Camp 2026 (June 14-22)

Merit badge class selection has opened. Do not register directly on the council website (per their request – and you would be paying for another campsite). PLEASE register early to get the classes you want by getting your list of choices to Mr. Hasler and paying Mr. Browning the $25 deposit (can be taken from scout accounts).  The afternoon Water Sports has already filled,  Almost full are Cooking (AM and PM), Water Sports (AM), and Motorboating (AM)

October patrol duties:

• Ceremonies: Phoenix, • Food Box: Panther,  • Game Guides: Fox  • PLC (10/14) Host and Troop Meeting Set-up: Flaming Arrow • Service: Wolf  (Clean up and leadership assistance)  • Can Recycling:  Shark (check every week, even if no cans brought into the gym)  • Grounds: Eagle  Both of the latter two duties must have an adult (parent or leader) with them while outside 

Upcoming

  4 Nov – Patrol elections – Return to formal Class A uniforms for troop meetings

11 Nov – Regular troop meeting (7:00-7:45pm), Court of Honor starting 7:45pm

18 Nov Scouting skills 

25 Nov Scouts Thanksgiving fun

Patrol duties descriptions – Elect patrol leaders and assistants, then patrol level supporting roles for Quartermaster, Scribe, etc.

Tri-District Klondike Derby Friday, Feb 20, 2026 at 4:00 PM –Sunday, Feb 22, 2026 noon

The troop needs to know your patrol plans, so please get a head count for those just attending Saturday and staying overnight. 

We need a sled head count.  Please hand in an estimate of interest. This needs to be completed !
