TROOP 48 BSA – SNOW POLICY
Our troop policy is for severe and unusual weather. We will continue with the meetings as scheduled, attend if you believe you can do so with relative safety. Check T48.org
Mr. Chris Garrett will be offering Cycling MB in the Cafe. Print out the MB worksheet (link) to begin working on this Eagle-required merit badge (alternatives are Hiking and Swimming). Note that this worksheet now has the recently updated requirements. If you have already started with the prior requirements, you can complete them or switch to the latest ones.
Mr. Overton will offer Chess knowledge, advice, and MB opportunities and fun!
In late February, the troop will begin the Physical Fitness Merit Badge However, Mr. Wexler announced that the Tenderfoot physical fitness test will be offered at this meeting.

Troop 48 will offer all four Eagle-required citizenship merit badges with our amazing counselors. Society (first limited to Life rank scouts, then Star), Nation, World, and Community (now full). Register at T48.org for first and second-class choices – filled by order submitted. The hard cutoff will be the January 31 troop meeting as scouts need to study and Be Prepared!
February 10-11 CCCF-SFF Continuous Campfire, and Scouting for Food. Troop 48 will work with Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church to collect food donations for the Blessing Box and Second Harvest Food Bank while keeping a continuous campfire to bring awareness to hunger. Also troop-led flag retirement and “candy land” activities of scouting to prepare for the Klondike Derby. (link to event)

Also, note that BSA has updated requirements for all ranks and a quarter of the merit badges. Despite not being shown in the current scout handbook, these skills will be required.
