Troop 48: Update 4/23

Greetings Troop

We have multiple new scouts and leaders, so I wanted to take this opportunity to say Welcome! We are thankful that you have decided to join our scouting family.

I also wanted to make sure that you were all aware of some safety protocols that we have in place that we encourage you to share with your scouts, and a reminder for all scouting families

Please let me know if you have any questions.

When arriving at scouts please make sure that your scout answers all COVID questions. Please have your temperature taken and wear a mask. The church asked that we have a mask on at all times please use your best judgment with group sizes and social distance when outside participating in physical activities.

Please make sure that scouts are only in the areas authorized that are on our building map. That means that we are not going into any of the church or day care areas this includes the bathrooms off the hallway by the gym and the bathroom in the Kid connection room which is currently being used by the Panther patrol. We have authorization to only use the bathrooms indicated on the map (those found off room 103A).

Each patrol has a designated patrol room that patrol should report to that room after leaving the gym after the designated start time. Perry and the CHPC custodian, cleans the gym when we are done, and we are not to enter back into that area.

At the end of the night please clean the spaces used and please report any area that may need extra care or cleaning due to activities (crafting, snacking or toilet clogging) please return your cleaning basket to the patrol office located by the bathroom off 103a.

When enjoying outdoor activities please make sure that you have told an adult party and always have a buddy with you especially when outside or down by the garage. The church is on a busy side of town and it’s important that we always put safety first.

Summer is coming and with the long warm nights we will enjoy outdoor games like capture the flag, ultimate frisbee, ultimate freeze tag and more. Please remind your scouts to wear appropriate closed toed shoes for safety when playing these games and to never leave the church grounds for any reason unless specifically indicated by Troop leadership.

Scouts, when you leave for the night if you are not leaving in the reverse manner of how you arrived, (such as a different vehicle or ride home) with the same ride that brought you please make sure that your adult guardian is aware as well as patrol and or troop leadership. Parents, this is a conversation that needs to be emphasized. We do have protocols put into place for the occasion that a scout is to wonder off that will include a phone call so please make sure that we have received accurate information for contact. Your user account @ T48.org and the Troop roster are the collection points for this contact information.

In May we will return to Class B this is scout shorts or pants and any scout related shirt no neckerchief and scout socks.

As information was shared by our senior patrol leader at summer camp, we will have active uniform inspection and the expectation is that scouts will have a full Class A. If your scout has grown out of there uniform, please consider donating it to our “brothers” closet. If your scout needs pants, a shirt or another part of the uniform please visit our uniform closet. May 4 and May 11th Jerry Browning will be sponsoring an official uniform exchange plan to review your uniform at that time.

Please let me know what we can do to help. We understand that transitions can be difficult but there is a process and we have multiple scouts and leaders available to help for this express purpose. Please reach out to me or our transition support team.

Adults: Laura Watts, Kyle Cannon, Scott Smith

Youth: Jack Cannon, Aiden McNabb, and Josh White.

We continue to navigate uncharted territory, but we are all in this together!

Yours in scouting

Julieann White
