Courts of Honor by Patrol

Since the pandemic is preventing a troop-wide gathering, the adult leaders have agreed to present the earned recognition to the scouts during their upcoming in-person patrol meetings.  These will be ranks, merit badges, and special awards – except for the three Eagles and 2019 Scout of the Year awards which will be handled in a special ceremony with arrangements still being determined.

Troop 48 has 34 ranks (Scout thru Life), 240 merit badges, and several special awards to present – including activity patches for Klondike Derby Merit Badge University, and Scout Sunday.  An electronic bulletin has been uploaded with this post to show how these will be distributed to the patrols on these evenings.  Patrols will begin at normal 7:00pm by first taking attendance and planning for upcoming outings.

The ceremonies will begin at 7:30pm (or so) at one of the pavilions in Warriors Path State Park on Duck Island.   Class A uniforms are appropriate. Please wear face masks and be prepared for a quick temperature check upon arrival as our interventions to prevent spreading the virus.  If you cannot or choose not to attend, the ceremony may be shared via Zoom with prior arrangement. For each scout, the ceremony will share their various recognitions, and then come forward to receive a clear bag with the set. We’ll skip the usual scout handshakes of congratulations.  (Family member event patches will be in the scout’s bag.)

We look forward to the scouts and their families joining Troop 48 in these Courts of Honor to recognize the skill and leadership development going back to November 2019.  These young men have been busy in spite of our trying times.

Questions can be directed to Mr. Hasler who will update this post if any changes are required. Because the bulletin has been created, further advancement will be collected for the November Court of Honor.
