Summer vacation is almost over. Have you see seen all of your scout friends recently? Patrol leaders and assistants make time to reach out to your missing members tonight (call them). Scouts are friendly so the call will be easy. Invite them to return and tell them of our upcoming events. Fill out the communication form and return it to Mr. Gould.

Event planning

  • August 3: Immediately following the opening (before we break up to patrol rooms) all participants going to DTR must be present in the gym for the Safety Afloat Plan Briefing.
  • August 6: Cherokee Lake Canoe (Dick Tracy Rock) We are offering a Friday night experience to older youth (age 14 by September 1st and 1st class). All others are welcome to join in on Saturday for what would be a standard DTR weekend.
    • Signup with Mr. Gould or go to T48.org. Pay fees to Mr. Miller.
    • PATROLS: Plan your menu and pay your food buyer. Pick canoe and tent partner.
  • August 8: CHPC Pool Party @ the Kingsport Aquatic Center
  • August 28: Grayson Highlands Double Header (Backpack // Truck-In): 2 different opportunities to experience a beautiful area.
    • Signup with Mr. Gould or go to T48.org. Pay fees to Mr. Miller.
  • September 4: The Channels of Virginia Day Hike: A simple day hike to an incredible rock formation.
    • Signup with Mr. Gould or go to T48.org. NO FEES

Targeted Advancement

* Please bring your book to Mr. Hasler to update your work at summer camp.  There are still some incomplete merit badge sheets to distribute.

* Cutoff for recognition to be presented at August 17 Court of Honor is August 3 at 8pm.  Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review need to be scheduled.

* Adult leaders, please see T48.org post about Hazardous Weather training.

At 8 PM on 7/27 in the gym Melinda Cannon will hold a 20-minute class covering Second Class Requirement #9a. “discuss with a selected individual approved by your leader the constitutional rights and obligations of a U.S. citizen.”

At 8 PM on a future date in the gym Mr. John White will hold a 30-minute class covering Second Class Requirement #7c. This should be a WELL ATTENDED class as there are over 30 youth still needing this.
