Backpack / Truck-In at Grayson Highlands Sept 11-13 

Online T48.org registration is open. Please register ASAP to guide headcount. Adult Leaders needed for Saturday-Sunday Truck In.  Backpack Saturday – Sunday with optional Friday start (Contact Jamie Ross), October 17 with enough adult leadership.

Please do not delay getting signed up 

Pack 348 needs help every Tuesdays at 6:00pm.  Den Chiefs help in all ranks.  For information about how to get involved, please contact  Mr. Monk, Mrs. Watts, Mrs White or Finn (Wolf patrol). Den Chief is an official leadership position for rank advancement, and counted by Troop 48 as Scout of the Year service hours (not advancement). 

Uniform expectations for troop meetings are Informal (Class B) uniforms, with scouting-themed t-shirt and scouting green pants/socks.  Donate clean, used uniform parts to the Brother’s Closet..

Parent communication board can be checked in the gym during troop meetings!!!

Surgoinsville River Front Festival, Saturday, Sept 5 11 AM–2 PM 

Troop 48 Color Guard leads a flag retirement ceremony for this event to honor veterans from the community.. Please contact Ryan Lick if you would like to participate in this ceremony.

Keep Kingsport Beautiful – Jefferson Garden Squad Sept 10 5-6pm  

Remove weeds from the pollinator garden.  Bring tools and water bottle.  Parents and siblings are also welcome!  Conservation service hour is good for Life rank.

Haunted Adventure weekends Oct 16-18 and 23-25. Urgent! Older scouts needed for staff. If you would like to help, please register on Haunted Adventure 10/16-18 Weekend  and/or 10/23-25 Weekend.

Sea Base Meeting – September 15 

Everyone attending Sea Base or still interested in going needs to attend this meeting with a parent. We’ll discuss the next payment, attendee requirements, and everything you need to know to attend Sea Base.

Pumpkin Truck Unloading is Saturday, September 26th @ 9-11am .

The pumpkins arrive for the annual CHPC Pumpkin Patch (rain or shine) on this Saturday.  All proceeds of the pumpkin patch support the children’s ministry..Unloading the truck in support of this ministry is a large group exercise involving many church members and scouts. Let’s shoot for at least 50% of each patrol – including your friends and family..  

Pumpkin Patch opens Sunday, September 27th, every day from 11 am to 7 pm.

Fall Festival is Saturday, October 10th from 11 am to 2 pm

Trunk-or-Treat is Saturday, October 24th @ 5-6 pm

Natural Tunnel State Park Truck-in Oct 16-18 

Space is limited to 30 based on reservations in the primitive campground.  Friday is arrival, camp set-up, and campfire.  A relaxed Saturday with cooking, hiking, field & camp games, and exploring the park.  Sunday morning breakfast, pack, and have a Troop 48 church service before heading home. .

TROOP 48 SCOUTS BSA / 2026-27 RENEWAL Most of the troop membership must renew their Scouting America registration in the next three months. Emails will be received starting 60 days before your registration expires and continuing to 30 days past. It is up to everyone to either pay and complete their renewal online or notify and pay the Troop Treasurer (preferred). Scout accounts may be used to pay these fees if renewed through the Treasurer.. The renewal fee is currently $150 for scouts and $100 for adults, $15 additional fee for a Scout Life Magazine subscription (which defaults to ON) and a 3% convenience fee if using a credit card to pay online. 

Additional Troop 48 fees are $42 for Scouts and $3 for Adult Leaders. These fees are due by Oct. 31, 2026.

Everyone needs a current medical exam (Parts A/B/C) to participate in outings and longer activities like summer camp, backpacking, hiking, and truck-in camping.  Medical forms to be given to Dana Higgins.

All scouts must submit signed copies (parents and scouts must sign) of four forms by Oct. 31, 2026:

Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) has a mandatory annual refresher requirement.  (See my.scouting.org for your expiration date and online training) Delinquent training will remove adults from the roster and require re-registration. Hazardous Weather and SM/ASM specific are required to be considered fully trained for the ASM role. Refresher training for the weather is required every two years.

STEP INTO HISTORY AT CAMP DAVY CROCKETT!  Join us at Camp Davy Crockett September 11–13 for “A Walk in Their Boots,” a unique living-history event featuring reenactors, military displays, encampments, vehicles and more. September 11–13 

10 AM–4 PM Camp Davy Crockett Open to the public!

Fall Fellowship OA September 18-20

This is going to be a great time for fun and games and competition between chapters.  

There will be plenty of great food all weekend. For those who just came in as members this past Spring and Summer Inductions, this is a great time to come and have some fun and learn more about the Order.
