Dick Tracy Rock 2025 – Trip Report

Trip Report: By Ryan Moncla

Beginning on the evening of the 8th, more experienced scouts traveled to Camp Davy Crockett, then by boat to “Dick Tracy Rock”, a privately owned island that is a 2.6 mile long water route away from the shore of Camp Davy Crockett. These scouts partook in: barefoot skiing, water skiing, slalom skiing, kneeboarding, tubing, wakeboarding, wake skating, and swimming. These scouts then returned to Camp Davy Crockett the next morning.  where they took the same water route by kayak and canoe, this time with all of the other scouts, all of whom needed to pack light enough to keep all of their belongings on their canoe. At the halfway point, scouts enjoyed a lunch packed by themselves to be fueled to continue the trip. Once the scouts arrived, they set up camp, bringing up tents, canopies, and hammocks. Once camp was fully set up, all scouts got back on the water to enjoy the same water activities as the night before. After all of the activities, scouts settled down around the fire pit to wind down for the night and enjoy the evening’s campfire skits. Once morning came, the scouts listened to a light Sunday service to appreciate our world around us, and took camp down. The scouts then made the same water trip, arriving an hour and a half later at the shores of Camp Davy Crockett.
