August 5 Dick Tracy Rock planning
August 8-10 Dick Tracy Rock Trip consists of backpack-style tent camping on an island (sometimes) in Cherokee Lake, about 3 miles from Camp Davy Crockett. All gear, except for patrol water jugs, needs to be in backpacks (no coolers). Meals will be prepared by ad hoc food groups from their pre-planned menus. Will use cooking fires and/or backpacking stoves (no propane stoves), thus suitable for Cooking MB. Activities include water skiing, extra canoeing, swimming with life jackets and shoes, gravity-assisted descending from “Dick Tracy Rock,” arrowhead hunting, fishing, etc.
NOTE: it is important for efficient planning that registration for Dick Tracy Rock be completed ASAP. Please don’t wait until the last week
August 30th. Surgoinsville RiverFront Festival. Troop 48 Color Guard leads a flag retirement ceremony at this event. Please contact Adam Moorman if you are interested in helping with the flag retirement.
