May 13, 2025 Announcements

Backpacking the Appalachian Trail thru-hike show by Brian

Congratulations to Christopher Preshong, our new Troop 48 Senior Patrol Leader, and all our new patrol leadership.

For the patrol who did not have sufficient members present to hold an election, make an effort to call and encourage attendance to complete your patrol election at the next troop meeting.

Uniform expectations flip to Class B until the Fall elections

Troop 48 changes from formal (Class A) to casual (Class B), thus until early November any scouting or troop-themed shirt with official green scout pants and socks is official for troop meetings. Boards of Review still require Class A uniform – as will the August Eagle Court of Honor.

Orders for new black long-sleeve zip-up and pullover lightweight long-sleeve hoodie are being taken now.

Medical Forms: Parts A,B, and C are mandatory for trips to Cumberland Island and Sumer Camp. Note that Part C must be signed by a medical professional. Forms can be downloaded here. Make sure to download the “Camping” form.

Trip fees!!

Please check with Mr. Browning regarding your scout account balance. It should be zero or positive before the next trip – and Board of Review.

Cumberland Island’s full payment due. It is not too late to sign up. One slot is still open for this fantastic opportunity.  (One at Sea Base, one backpacking.)

NASA final payment due now. You should have received an email forwarded by Mr. Browning from NASA Space Camp. A parent has to go online (use the link in the email) to register your scout(s) and yourself if applicable. Please do this task ASAP.  (3 open spots)

Summer Camp – All payments are now dueCancellation will now incur a significant penalty.  Also register on T48.org. This information is needed to select a housing choice (default is cabin) and prepare a transportation plan. An introduction meeting for new scouts/parents will be held on June 10th, including what to pack!
