December 31, 2024  TROOP 48 WILL BEMEETING

NYC crew will be returning home

Roughly 20 scouts and half-dozen adults will gather in CHPC gym on New Year’s Eve at 7PM.

– Very short opening (skip the flags to have Eagle patrol lead)

– Quickly take patrol attendance

– Collect any remaining payments for 17-19 January Winter Camp ($150 per scout).  We’re closing registration with this troop meeting.  A trip gathering will occur next week (1/7) to discuss arrangements for transportation, housing, and packing.

– Secret word of the evening is “Adventure”.

Concurrently – Hopefully done by 7:30ish.:

– Phoenix patrol with an adult will stock the Blessing Box

– Troop Guide(s) and a leader will review with any AOL scout present on Scout rank Req #1 (things you learned while completing the Arrow of Light)

– Fox/Shark patrol helps Mr. Hasler set up for the evening challenges and games

– Rest of scouts and adults stomp cans in the rolling cart, final bin, and blue tubs.

Then organize into small groups of scouts to try a series of ten-minute stations

– Stop and clean up around 8:20PM followed by a short closing.

January 7th troop meeting

– Leadership Corps will meet at 6:30PM 

– Mayor Paul Montgomery is coming to cover First Class 9a: constitutional rights and obligations of a U.S. citizen. 

– Winter Camp gathering to organize as stated above

– Sign four Annual Forms

2025 Super Trips – take action NOW to participate!

Cumberland Island Expedition, tentatively May 25-31, 2025 

is filling quickly. Please register and make a $100 deposit to Mr. Browning. 

Attention all Expedition members. T-shirt design competition!!Please submit a T-shirt design for the trip. The winning design will be our Expedition T-shirt. 

Camp Davy Crockett Summer camp – class registration is now open!!!! 

22-28 June  ( this date is under investigation, subject to change to June 15-21 We will have an answer by mid January !)  

Please pay $30 deposit to Mr. Browning ASAP

NASA Space Camp July 18-20 Pathfinder program

Please register on T48.org and pay <how much$> deposit to Mr. Browning. Hurry to secure the remaining dozen spots.

Philmont Cavalcade 2026

Please register now and pay a $150 deposit. There are spots. Please see Jerry Browning if you have interest. Must be Age 14-20, or 13 and completed 8th Grade by 7/5/2026. Reservation is $1,365/person. 

Available for sale: $20 for Grin & Merit or Eagle Bound t-shirts.  Get while supplies last!!

Other items:

● WELL DONE, Troop 48 leaders.  Only four Assistant Scoutmasters need to retake the Hazardous Weather course (expires every two years – and national BSA flipped a switch in early December to flag).  Please check your training profile in My.Scouting and have this valuable training current by the end of January.

● Arrowmen: 

○ Next meeting will be on January 23rd, 2025, at our Council Service Center located at 129 Boone Ridge Drive (off I-26 Exit 17).
