Troop 48’s newest Eagle Scout (#181). We are so proud of this young man for all his accomplishments!!! Well done!!

Langley’s Eagle Project 

Saturday, February 10 9:30am-4:30pm 

Sunday, February 11 1:30-4:30pm

Camp Bays Mountain / 500 Hood Road / Kingsport, TN

Bring work gloves and if you want a shovel, rake, or post-hole digger.

THERE WILL BE PIZZA BOTH DAYS!!! 

If it rains hard, the work day will be rescheduled; but if it’s drizzling, we will work! Bring rain gear!

Tri-District Klondike Derby (Friday, February 16 to Sunday, February 18) 

Cost is $40/scout and $30/adult. Registration Closes: 02-11-2024.

Please DO NOT register on the council website as the council wants us to register as a troop.

Scout cards: Scouts earn  75% commission 

Scouts only have to sell just under 50 cards to pay for summer camp!

Klondike is coming!! 

Eagle- Fishing Sled Fox- Lemon Sled

Wolf / Phoenix as Red Wolf – Batman Sled Flaming Arrow: Chester wheels 

We will start brushing up on scouting skills and patrol spirit !!  

Be Prepared!  Every scout should have a pencil or pen at troop meetings.

Hawksnest Snow Tubing (Saturday, February. 24 at 7:30 AM)

Wilderness Road District Banquet (Thursday, February 29) 

Register on Sequoyah Council here. Cost is $20, partially funding the OA NOAC Trip in July. Please attend to help funding as well as recognize District Leaders.

Registration ends Thursday 02-22-2024.

Merit Badge University (Saturday, March 2 at Northeast State)

Class registration is open! Please DO NOT register on the council website as the council wants us to register as a troop.  Class information is posted on T48.org calendar entry.  (Eagle merit badges are being offered.)  Cost is Youth $25 for Patch/Lunch/two classes,  Adult $25 for Lunch and up to six classes,  Adults (Non-Participating) $10 for MBU Patch/Lunch.  Aviation has $25 fee and Welding $5.

  • Event notice also states that a BSA Medical Form must be completed by all attendees

Krissie Lawson could use adult volunteers to help with crowd control at MBU.

Wilderness Road District Camporee (Saturday, March 23) Registration is open.

Register at Sequoyah Council here. Cost is $20, A fundraiser at this event will help OA NOAC trip in July. Please plan to attend this high energy, fun activity to just have fun. Hawaiian Theme – wear your best Hawaiian Shirt. Hawaiian themed dinner. Music, Games, Stem, Shooting, Frontier Camp. Camping available Friday and Saturday night at your own coordination.

Obed Truck in Camping, Hiking (April 5 – 7) Registration on T48.org is Open

Visit T48 for registration and the trip sheet and information on the Junior Ranger program. You can earn a patch. This trip replaces our traditional Back Bone Rock trip due to park closure. Rappelling, Bouldering, hiking, fishing, and truck-in camping, all available.

Summer Camp (June 16-22) 

Partial payment of $130 (including prior $25 deposit) is due now to Mr. Browning.

See Mr. Hasler about class registration (refer to Class catalog). 

Register on T48.org to indicate preference for cabin, camp tent, hammock, or personal tent.

Hiking merit badge

Mr. Shone announced that this Eagle-required merit is now being worked (as an alternative to Swimming or Cycling). Three 10-mile and one 20-mile hikes remain to be planned and enjoyed.  Second adult leader is needed for each hike.

NEW YORK RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR:

December 27 – 30, 2024

See New York City decorated for Christmas!! An excellent sightseeing tour of NYC is planned including a drive to see Central Park, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Broadway, Times Square and many other sights in the “Big Apple”. Visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral and watch the ice skating and see the huge Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza! Ride to the Top of One World Trade

Center! We take a boat tour on the Hudson River near Liberty Island to see The Statue of Liberty as well as Ellis Island!  Tour includes reserved seat tickets to Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular featuring the world famous Rockettes! Accommodations are located in the heart of the Theater District in Manhattan. What a way to start the Christmas Season!

DEPOSIT: $100 Per Person – trip needs 35 participants by Feb. 29th (very soon)

You need to register now and pay the $100 deposit to keep this trip alive.
