Safe travels to our 2023 Sea Base Crew, leaving Thursday, Dec 28, 2023  and returning Wednesday, Jan 3, 2024 

Troop 48 will meet on January 2. It would be a good opportunity to make a resolution for 2024. Check the troop calendar of outings and events to find something you really would like to do. Review your advancement progress. Consider what your patrol could do together.

🎁 All patrols were represented December 26th Scouts who attended make sure to bring your books to chart advancement 

Scouting BSA has announced annual updates to merit badges with significant changes in Automotive Maintenance, Fire Safety, Golf (disc option!), Nuclear Science, Safety, Skating (skateboarding option), and Surveying,  First Aid* has been reorganized with more hands-on requirements. Swimming* will require correctly demonstrating all strokes.  For those who have officially started on a merit badge (by notifying Mr. Hasler or Mrs. Tanner to enter into TroopMaster and link you with a counselor), then you can choose to finish with the current requirements or switch to the update.  Starting merit badges in 2024 will use the 2024 or most current requirements. 

Winter Camp (Jan. 12-15, 2024) Register here individually (not a troop trip) right now and pick desired classes. See Pages 8 and 9 of the event guide. Registration closes January 5th.

  • Mar 02, 2024: University Registration form has this statement:  All participants will receive a copy and are expected to follow the Code of Conduct: In order to foster and promote an educational environment conducive to the College’s Mission, students at Northeast State are expected to: Commit themselves to learning and the pursuit of higher education; Prepare for, attend and actively participate in scheduled classes; Conduct themselves with personal and academic integrity; Respect the rights and dignity of all members of the College Community; Discourage bigotry and encourage tolerance while striving to learn from differences in people, ideas, and opinions; Refrain from and discourage behaviors that threaten the freedom, respect, and safety that every individual deserves; Participate in the broad educational experience available to all members of the College Community through College-sponsored cultural events and other educational activities; Observe prescribed procedures and schedules for academic advisement, registration, and advancement in a chosen program of study; Observe all rules and regulations, including those designed to ensure and promote safety and security on the Northeast State campus; Use, as necessary, various College services available to students for assistance with academic, health, career, financial, emotional, and other concerns; and Assist the College in evaluation of its programs and services and conscientiously participate in evaluations, surveys, and periodic comprehensive examinations.   
  • The event notice also states that a BSA Medical Form – Must be completed by all attendees.  Get an  early for summer camp.

Klondike time is coming!! We will start brushing up on scouting skills and patrol spirit !!  

2024 Tri-District Klondike Derby – Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 – Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024

Summer Camp (June 16-22, 2024) class registration ARE NOW OPEN.  See Mr. Hasler about your preferences. Refer to the Class catalog. Some favorite classes are filling already.   You must register on T48.org and pay a $25 deposit to Mr. Browning.  

Veteran (Scouter) pins are to recognize the time and effort registered volunteers put into the Scouting movement. Milestones are every five years. Time given to Cub Scout programs or being a scout as a youth is also counted. If you are interested in receiving a pin, please see Mr. Hasler to complete the application in January. 

Time to refresh our troop’s list of Merit Badge Counselors.  Adult leaders and parents must have current Youth Protection Training.  Review the list of merit badges to see where you could fit based on your hobbies, interests, and experiences.  Currently seeking MBCs for Animation, Archeology, Metalwork, and Surveying as have scouts partially done with those subjects.
