Recap from the Boon Trail Awards Dinner: we have lots to celebrate!!

Congratulations Troop !!!

The council has set a goal of having 2050 scouts . We have 580 in Boon Trail and Troop 48’s 2025, a total was 94 unique scouts (boys and girls) participating in Troop 48 activities and attended meetings at CHPC. The troop also had over 55 registered adult leaders.

Camp report: We welcomed John as our new director. We had 8,000 visitors, including many groups other than the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). We had 4 units with 900 BSA kids attending the summer camp, and 60% of the campers were from the council.

Our council had 166 attendees at the Klondike derby. We are also planning for the CDC summer camp. Week 3 will be a high-adventure week, and it will be a pilot season.

The CDC is looking for staff. They need summer camp staff to interview now.

District reports: Congratulations on the second year of Boone Trail. We have 580 scouts in Boone Trail. Boone Trail had 25 eagles in 2025 and earned 29 palms. Scouts earned 686 merit badges and had 173 advancements.

Looking at our 35 units, we had 3-5 star units, and 2 of them was a 5-star unit. The 5-star unit had well-trained leaders, advancement that was at least 30%, a good outdoor plan, and membership growth and retention. Pack 29, Troop 240, and Troop 48 earned the 5-star unit honors.

Troop 48 logged Activities: Throughout the year 2025, 90 different Troop 48 Scouts, participated in 28 scouting activities including NASA Space Camp, Summer Camp, Winter Camp, Cumberland Island, Scouting for Food, Backbone Rock, Hungry Mother State Park, Conservation Projects, Dick Tracy Rock, OA Events, Patrol Outings, Various Hikes, Orienteering, Channels Hike, Merit Badge Universities, JLT, Color guards, Fun Fest Parade, Surgionsville Rivefront Festival, Crazy 8 Service, CHPC Pumpkin Patch, and Scout Sunday Service. The troop sent participants to High Adventure camps including the Bechtel Summit and Philmont Scout Ranch. With great Attendance: Troop 48 had Scouts, on 1,863 individual occurrences, attended Scout Meetings.

Troop 48 scouts earned 53 special awards, including Religious Emblems, Winter Camp Skill, Den Chief Service, Fire’n Chit, Totin’ Chip, Polar Bear Swim, Up with the Sun Run, Paddleboarding, Honor Scout Awards, and Wilderness Pledge Award.
With A total of 85 Troop 48 scouts spent a total of 725 nights camping, at Camp Davy Crockett, Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, Backbone Rock, Bays Mountain Park, Dick Tracy Rock, OA Outings, Warriors Path State Park, Misha Mokwa, Grayson Highlands, Hungry Mother State Park, Cumberland Island, Bechtel Summit, Philmont Scout Ranch, and various Patrol Campouts in the area.
Churches: Troop 48 Scouts attended 936 Church Services throughout the year.

Our Merit Badge total includes 59 Troop 48 scouts earned 261 merit badges.

We had several Rank Advancements: Troop 48 advanced in rank a total of 73 scouts, as follows:
Eagle – 7
Life – 8
Star – 8
First Class – 8
Second Class – 11
Tenderfoot – 13
Scout – 13

Out Service Hours for Troop 48 scouts completed a total of 1,921 hours of service, including conservation projects, eagle projects, supporting the cub scouts, planning and performing scout training, school projects, delivering firewood, church ministries, and much more.

For Troop 48, we awarded the Superhero Award to Patrick Monk, Candace Tanner, Dana Higgins, Amy Taylor, and Ken Sprinkle.
