Winterplace Ski & Tubing Trip – Jan 30-Feb 1. This trip is full and registration is closed. A mandatory planning will be held on Jan 20th to discuss proper clothing, and food planning. Scouting for Food with Continuous Campfire, Scout Sunday February 6-8.
Held at CHPC. This will be a good overnighter or two for newer scouts to complete early rank camping and cooking requirements, while the entire troop collects food donations, practices for Klondike Derby, oversees a campfire lasting during the entire event, and attends Sunday worship service. Popcorn and hot chocolate each night.
Snow Tubing at Hawksnest – Saturday, February 15. Registration is now open. Parents must complete the waiver form.
Tri-District Klondike Derby February 20–22.
Registration and payment have been completed for the Scouts who indicated they plan to attend the Tri-District Klondike Derby. A roster will be posted at upcoming troop meetings for your review. We need to finalize our plans and require immediate clarification on the following roster information as of January 20 Current Patrol Rosters: 5 sleds
1- Bear (+1): Ryan, Christopher, Kellen, Gillian, Aidan B., and Luke T. (Note: Phoenix currently only has one Scout).
2- Wolf/Fox (Combined name ): Max, Finn, Grant, Coy,Arthur Lexi, Ester and Perl. (Note: We need to confirm if Griffin is attending).
3- Panthers: CJ, Cole, Carter, Ender. and Jonathan W.
4- Flaming Arrow: Cristian, Robbie, Andrew Cox, Jacob D, Jackson,Wilson, Isaac M, Jeremy, and Wyatt.
5- Eagle: Lucas, Xander, and Sam,Sutton and Daniel. (Liam H possibly )
-2 sleds

Please review these lists and provide any missing information as soon as possible so we can finalize our attendance. If anyone is not attending and is listed or wants to attend and is not listed please contact Julieann White or Jerry Browning ASAP!!!
Funds for the payment were taken from individual scout accounts. Please see Mr. Browning to see if you need to add money to your account to cover the $25 cost per scout for the registration.
START YOUR KLONDIKE PRACTICE
Knowledge of knots – Sled participants will be challenged to tie knots common to scouting.
First aid – Each patrol and patrol member will be called upon to explain and/or demonstrate first aid concepts common to scouting.
Fire starting – Sled teams will work together to follow the instructions of the station leader to build a fire and accomplish a task. Materials will be available in addition to the materials on the sleds.
Cross cut saw – Sled teams will receive instruction on using a crosscut saw and will then pair up to demonstrate the skill of cutting blocks from logs using the saw.
Tomahawk Throw – Sled participants will have the opportunity to throw tomahawks at a target, improving their technique and accuracy.
Ferry Pull – Sled teams will work together to construct a ferry using materials on their sled and provided at the station, and then demonstrate that the ferry can…..ferry, across the waters.

MBU March 7 at Northeast State Community College Blountville, TN
Revised cost is $30 for Scouts BSA (patch, lunch, and up to two classes), $25 for Adults (patch, lunch and up to two classes), $10 for Non-Participating Adults (patch and lunch). Troop 48 is registering as a group. Pay fees to Mr. Browning, and see Mr. Hasler to sign up for classes (scouts and adults).
Philmont Cavalcade – Final payment of $607.50 due March 1, 2026.
CHPC Spring Lock In – March 13th
Registration is open for the ever popular event.
Camp Davy Crockett Summer Camp 2026 (June 14-22)
Next payment ($150 total with prior deposit) will be due early in February. Sign up now to obtain classes you want by getting your list of choices to Mr. Hasler and paying Mr. Browning the $25 deposit (can be taken from scout accounts).
Sea Base 2027 have successfully secured 5 crews for our Coral Reef Sailing Adventure at Sea Base in 2027! This means we have an incredible 40 slots available for this trip. Mark your calendars, as the adventure will take place from December 27, 2027, to January 2, 2028. We will be flying out on December 27, 2027, checking into Sea Base on December 28, 2027, and returning on January 2, 2028.
To secure your spot, the first payment of $250 is due by February 10, 2026. The second Sea Base payment of $600 will be due by October 20, 2026, and the final Sea Base payment of $545 will need to be made by September 14, 2027. These payments are the amounts due to Sea Base for each person. In addition to these payments, please be aware that there will be additional expenses for transportation, lodging, and meals.
