Wreaths Across America — Saturday, December 13 at Noon 

Scouts, leaders, and families—join in honoring our nation’s heroes at the Mountain Home VA Cemetery.  Come together to place wreaths and remember the men and women who served with courage, sacrifice, and dedication. A powerful service opportunity for Scouts and volunteers to show reverence, reflect on duty and service, and give back in a meaningful way.

All are welcome. Help us ensure every veteran is remembered. 🌲🎖️no sign up just show up

Congratulations to our newest Arrow of Light scouts who crossed over from Pack 348. 

Winterplace Ski & Tubing Trip – Jan. 30-Feb. 1 Weekend outing to Ghent, WV. We will stay in a lodge/cabin rented through VRBO. If we have 15 participants we will get a group rate of $135 for the weekend. We must have drivers available. With housing, transportation, lessons, and meals, the cost per scout will be approximately $350. Sign up is required ASAP to determine if we get the group rate and book lodging. New recruits:

Please remember to meet with your guides so we can help you with your transition. If you would like Mr. Browning to transfer the new scouts from Pack 348 to Troop 48, please send him the scout’s name and birthdate. You can also complete the transfer on my.scouting.org. Each new crossover scout will also need to pay Mr. Browning $42 for Troop 48 Fees for FY-2026.

2026 calendar – printed copies are in the crate and the T48.org calendar has been updated. The online calendar now shows 2026.

Congratulations, we have completed the BSA pilot program and have officially obtained notification that we will continue to be a “Family Troop” with both girl and boy participants. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out multiple surveys. 

Leadership Corps updates the parent communication board on the east wall in the gym during troop meetings!!! This display is more than the chalkboard, please check it out!

December patrol duties:

• Ceremonies: Wolf, • Food Box: Fox,  • Game Guides: Phoenix  • PLC (12/9) Host and Troop Meeting Set-up: Panther  • Service: Flaming Arrow (Clean up and leadership assistance)  • Can Recycling: Eagle (check every week, even if no cans brought into gym)  

Each patrol (specifically Eagle) should ensure they have volunteers to complete their duty.

CDC Winter Camp, Friday, Jan 16 to Monday, Jan 19 

Registration is open, but the council is requiring full payment ($150 scouts, $75 adults) to make class selections.  Please pay Mr. Browning and then see Mr. Hasler to sign up for classes (handout available), For Troop 48, registration will close by the troop meeting on Tuesday, January 6th. If you have not paid Mr. Browning by this date, your slot will be cancelled to get a 100% refund.  Blacksmithing and Welding classes are full.

Scouting for Food with Continuous Campfire, Scout Sunday February 6-8. 

Tri-District Klondike Derby, February 20-22.

Scouts that indicated in a troop meeting that you planned to attend have been registered and paid in full. A roster will be posted at the troop meetings. Funds for the payment were taken from individual scout accounts. Please see Mr. Browning to see if you need to add money to your account to cover the $25 cost per scout for the registration. Additional scouts that would like to register, see Mr. Browning and make the $25 payment. We need information to make sled assignments. Please turn in sled patrol name, sled choice, sled participants ASAP.

Merit Badge University, Saturday, March 7

Due to an error, the class list published was not correct for 2026.  Information will be released in January.

Camp Davy Crockett Summer Camp 2026 (June 14-22) 

Merit badge class selection is underway with 25 scouts making choices so far… Do not register directly on the council website (per their request – and you would be paying for another campsite). PLEASE register early to obtain the classes you want by getting your list of choices to Mr. Hasler and paying Mr. Browning the $25 deposit (can be taken from scout accounts).  Already full are Water Sports, Cooking, Fishing and Welding. 

As some of you may know, OA will be having a Lodge Banquet on January 10th at 6 pm. This will be a fantastic gathering at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, where they will recognize all of our lodge’s accomplishments. We will recognize all event chairpersons and new Vigil members, and announce the 2025 recipients of the Bob Morrison Service Award and the Founders Award. We will be serving dinner for this event, and as always, we strongly encourage you to bring your family and friends. You do not need to be in the OA to attend this event, so please bring your family or troop members who may be interested. The cost for the event is $25.
