Advancement focus Mrs. Tanner worked hard on distributing Individual Progress Reports to all scouts (except three Eagle Scouts), so check your email. September is advancement and Scout skill enhancement month. A focus on knots at this troop meeting. Perform book checks to confirm what you have already finished. Three Boards of Review will be held for those who took this step.
The Leadership Corps has created a new parent communication board; which can be found in the gym during troop meetings!!!
Sickness policy
With different bugs traveling around the public, if you are sick, please stay home! If you have been exposed to sickness but feel well, wear a mask. We are entering the contagious season of RSV, FLU, COVID, and pneumonia with active cases around the region. Let’s keep all Troop 48 members healthy.
Hunger Awareness Month – Scouting for Food: planning confirmed by patrol leadership. All patrols need to contact Mrs. Tanner to set up a drop time at the church when you have finished food pick up or bring it to the meeting on the Tuesday following pick up. The patrols with the highest participation from patrol members will win prizes!

Earning through fundraising!
The Sequoyah Council believes in providing a simple way for Scouts to fund their adventures and learn the value of hard work by earning their own way while supporting a local business.
This year we have partnered with Big Poppa Corn, a Pick Tennessee Company. Every kernel counts- all the proceeds stay in the region, and more than half fuel local Scouting programs!

Online Renewal Notices – watch your email 💌
Please get registered (it’s that time).
Most of Troop 48’s leaders and scouts have a 31 Oct recharter deadline. Starting in 2024 an electronic system was used for payments to BSA. Please check your inbox and/or spam folder for an email with a link to renew online. The cost per scout for National and Council fees is $150, and $100 for adults, which includes the cost of insurance. If you do not receive an email, you can log on to my.Scouting and complete the renewal from the renewal notification or “My Application”. Let us know if you have any problems.
If you would like to pay for your renewal from your scout account, let Mr. Browning know and Troop 48 can handle your renewal and payment for you. A credit card fee will be included.
20% of Troop 48 adults and scouts have already rechartered, so join them.
Annual Troop 48 Fee:
Troop 48 registration fees will be the same as last year, $42 per scout and $3 per adult, in addition to national fees. The troop registration fees cover our general operating costs for the year, Nov. 1, 2025 – Oct. 31, 2026. General costs include merit badge patches, website administrative costs, historian costs such as plaques, etc., and camping costs such as propane, gear, etc. Please make this payment to Mr. Browning by Oct. 31, 2025.
Annual Forms: As part of renewal we update the 4 annual forms. Please complete the forms ASAP. They are to be signed by parents and scouts and turned into Ms. Amy Taylor. Forms available here.
Six 2025 CDC Summer Camp Patches Unclaimed Leaders or scouts, if you have not received your camp patch (missed the last Court of Honor) then see Mr. Hasler now!
Space Exploration Merit Badge – This merit badge was partially completed for those attending NASA Space Camp back in July.. The remaining items will be coordinated by Mr. Browning, who will work with Mr. Robe, the current merit badge counselor. Contact Mr. Browning or Mr. Hasler for details on incomplete requirements.
September patrol duties:
• Ceremonies: Panther • Food Box: Fox • Game Guides: Flemming Arrow • PLC (9/9 Host and Troop Meeting Set-up: Wolf • Service: Shark (Clean up and leadership assistance) • Can Recycling: Eagle (check every week, even if no cans brought into the gym) • Grounds: Phoenix Both of these latter two duties should be done while there is still daylight and have an adult leader with them while outside
The pumpkins arrive for the annual CHPC Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, September 27 at 9 am. Please make plans to come and help unload the truck in support of this ministry.

Cavalcade 2026 we have one open spot for a youth!! $607.50 is due for Cavalcade before the end of September.
This amazing trip to Philmont in July of 2026 has one scout opening. The trip involves a 7-day trek into the beautiful New Mexico mountains on horseback. The total cost will be approximately $1,500. Financial assistance is available if needed. Please let us know ASAP if you are interested.
Uniform part donations (in good condition) to the closet are welcome as summer comes to a close. Check what no longer fits you, then give the shirt or pants another chance to serve.
Please look around your home for any Troop gear or Property merit badge books Troop historical team if you have any of the Troop photo books ( tote boxes please return them )
CHPC partners with The Marsh Regional Blood Center for a Blood Drive on October 19th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Participants can contact the Church Office before the event to schedule an appointment. Please note that if you have provided a blood donation after August 25 that you cannot participate in this event. Please contact Mike Strickler with any questions.
