Safe travels to those on the Cumberland Island trip.  Please note many of our adult leaders and scouts (including the Scoutmaster) will be on Cumberland Island with limited cell service; therefore, T48.org has the most up-to-date information – and maybe some pictures on FB.

The rest of Troop 48 will be meeting Tuesday 5/27 in Jones Building as the gym is not available.

5/30-31 Church Yard Sale. Donations of good quality items may be dropped off at the church starting May 21. Please no clothes, shoes, or broken items. Money raised will support replacing kitchen equipment. Volunteers will be needed to set up sorting and at sale.

Note: Scouts are asked to please respect the church grounds and not be in the play yard if older than elementary age.  Do not run in the church halls.

For safety, it is important that scouts do not leave the church building without adult supervision. Scouts should not be leaving the Troop meeting without Informing their patrol leadership or adult advisor for patrol.

Medical Forms: Parts A, B, and C are mandatory for Summer Camp. Note that Part C must be signed by a medical professional. Forms can be downloaded here. Make sure to download the “Camping” form. Not sure about your medical form, check here for the status.  NASA Space Camp and all weekend outings and campouts require current health forms, Parts A and B.

Pay your Food Buyers:

Food buyers volunteer to purchase food and supplies for their patrols on each outing. They use their own money to purchase and cook your meals. Please make sure to ask your food buyer what you owe them and make payment as soon as possible. Food buyers, a Scout is Thrifty. Please be thrifty in your food plan and the purchase of items. Many generic items will be close to half the price of name-brand items, and in many cases, the difference is very minor. Try to minimize the total food cost by being thrifty in your purchases. Shop at discount grocery stores.

Parents of those working on Scout or Star ranks.  Your scouts have a requirement which must have your involvement.  “With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide and view the Personal Safety Awareness videos (with your parent or guardian’s permission).”  The first item is a pamphlet found in the front of the scout handbook (or here).  The second is on Scouting America. To communicate this completion, just sign and date the front cover of the pamphlet (or send a written message if it is missing).
