This weekend!

Farris Ward Eagle Work Day – Sunday, January 19th starting at 9am 

Appalachian Highlands Humane Society / 2101 W Walnut Street, Johnson City, TN 

Policy of AHHS is any youth under the age of 15 needs an adult to attend.

Rain or shine as this project is indoors.  Bring work gloves. 

Call Farris  to let him know you’re coming.  

Winter Camp – Please be at CHPC at 5pm Friday 1/17.  Be prepared for cold weather camping.

January 21, 2025 Announcements

A possible ski trip will be discussed at each upcoming troop meeting, beginning this coming week, on where and when to go depending on weather and skill of interested participants. If interested, please let Mr. Monk know.  We will decide on a Tuesday night on whether to go the following weekend.

Summer Camp – June 15-21 (week earlier!) at Camp Davy Crockett 

We have confirmed our reservation for Week 1.  Class registration is open!!!!  Existing Week 2 class choices were maintained.  Please contact Mr. Hasler for classes and pay $30 deposit to Mr. Browning ASAP.  Please register on T48.org to indicate housing preference and carpooling.  Contact Julieann White with any questions.

The Troop 48 Brothers’ Closet could use restocking with uniform parts.  Check your home to see what you outgrew during the past year to see if anything could be donated.

District-wide Camporee. Planners are in contact with Natural Tunnel State Park and Sycamore Shoals State Park but location details have not been finalized. Look for updates.

2025 Super Trips – take action NOW to participate!

Cumberland Island Expedition, May 24-31, 2025. Openings are available.

Quick Group Meeting at Scouts on Tuesday Jan. 21 – please attend if possible

Please register and make a $100 deposit to Mr. Browning ASAP so Ferry reservations can be made.. Registration will be closed soon.

T-shirt design competition!! Attention all Cumberland Island Expedition XVI  members. Please submit a T-shirt design. The winning design will be our Expedition T-shirt. 

NASA Space Camp July 17-20 Pathfinder program

Please consider this trip. Register on T48.org and pay a $100 non refundable deposit to Mr. Browning ASAP. We have a minimum trip size of 16 and a maximum of 25. 

Philmont Cavalcade 2026

Please register on T48.org now and pay a $150 deposit. Only 1 youth spot remaining. Can register for the waiting list in case someone drops. Please see Jerry Browning if you have interest. Must be Age 14-20, or 13 and completed 8th Grade by 7/5/2026. Philmont cost $1,365/person. There will be additional costs for transportation.

National Jamboree 2026, July 22-31, 2026. Ten fun days at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia with thousands of other scouts. Per person fee $1,560 plus Council costs. Look for registration on the Sequoyah Council website soon. First payment due in May 2025.
