Combined Troop Pilot Program
Important Announcements for Adults – As part of the Combined Troop Pilot we are participating in (boys and girls combined troop), parents of scouts will receive surveys and other emails concerning the pilot. Please make sure your email address in my.scouting is accurate or you will not receive these emails.

September Meeting Focus
27-29 Sept Emerald Mine /Truck In (T48.org booking open)
Doc Rocks for Geology and Mining in Society merit badges, then tour the gem mine with option to enjoy gem/ore mining (individual purchases). A short hike to The Blowing Rock for group photos at the scenic overlook. On Sunday, the troop will have a picnic and church service, then visit the Linville Falls.
Pumpkin Patch Trailer Unloading
Saturday, Sep 28 9–10:30 AM for CHPC Pumpkin Patch trailer unloading. Doughnuts and pizza for everyone!! Please come and help many hands make for a quick unload. The church is depending on us for help. Please let us know who is attending to represent your patrol!!!!

Online Renewal Notices
Most of Troop 48 leaders and scouts have a 31 Oct recharter deadline. Starting this year, an electronic system will be used for payments to BSA. Please check your inbox and/or spam folder for an email with a link to renew online. The cost per scout for National and Council fees is $135, and $100 for adults, includes the cost of insurance. There will be a 30-day lapse period beyond your anniversary date, after which, you will be dropped from the Troop Roster. If you do not receive an email, you can log on to my.scouting and complete the renewal from “My Application”. Let us know if you have any problems.
New Feature – if you would like to pay for your renewal from you scout account, let Mr. Browning know and we can handle your renewal and payment for you.
Annual Troop 48 Fee:
Troop 48 registration fees will be the same as last year, $42 per scout and $3 per adult, in addition to national fees. The troop registration fees cover our general operating costs for the year, Nov. 1, 2024 – Oct. 31, 2025. General costs include merit badge patches, website administrative costs, historian costs such as plaques, etc., and camping costs such as propane, gear, etc. Please make this payment to Mr. Browning by Oct. 31, 2024.
19 Oct The Channels Natural Area Preserve (Day Hike)
Hike about 3.3 miles in (mostly uphill rated moderate) over mostly dirt and gravel trails. Explore the Channels maze by squeezing through unusual ancient stone formations.
