This weekend: 

Sunday, August 25 for our Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event! 10am at CHPC.  Help those in need. Our challenge is to pack 16,750 meals in two hours. 

Keep Kingsport Beautiful (KKB) is heading back to Jackson Elementary School this Saturday for another garden workday.  KKB will provide some tools and gloves, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if available.  Call Mrs. Wilkins for information (423) 914-4037

Grayson Highlands Backpack/Truck-In

Saturday, Aug 24 7 AM – Sunday, Aug 25 3 PM

August 27, 2024 Announcements: 

Surgoinsville Labor Day Flag Retirement, Saturday Aug 31 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm   

Please arrive at 1:00 PM in full Class A Uniform. There will be set up activities and a dry run prior to the ceremony. Ryan has already selected the color guard team. Others are needed to help prep the flags and retire the flags during the ceremony. Please attend if you can. This event is located at Surgoinsville Riverfront Festival. Follow signs posted on Hwy 11W toward Rogersville.

  • PLC Host and troop set-up (each week):  Eagle
  • Service: Panther / Phoenix (Clean up and leadership assistance) 
  • Can Recycling:  Panther 
  • Grounds:  Fox  (Please rake the playground mulch, put rocks back in garden beds that are in the parking lot, empty trash by the play yard and pick up litter around church grounds.)

7 Sept 10AM – Noon Warriors Path State Park Conservation (no booking, just show up)

Olivia H. will provide leadership for trash pick-up in the park.

14 Sept Navitat Canopy Adventure (T48.org booking open)

Situated on a wooded bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, this outdoor adventure trail consists of ziplines, bridges, swings, nets, and climbs.

27-29 Sept Emerald Mine /Truck In (T48.org booking open)

Doc Rocks for Geology and Mining in Society merit badges, then tour the gem mine with option to enjoy gem/ore mining (individual purchases). A short hike to The Blowing Rock for group photos at the scenic overlook. On Sunday, the troop will have a picnic and church service, then visit the Linville Falls.

19 Oct The Channels Natural Area Preserve (Day Hike) 

Hike about 3.3 miles in (mostly uphill rated moderate) over mostly dirt and gravel trail. Explore the Channels maze by squeezing through unusual ancient stone formations.

26 Oct Grin and Merit Troop MB Day (T48.org booking open)

Arrangements are still being made. Citz in Society*, Citz in the Nation*, Personal Management*, Sustainability*, Animal Science, Architecture, Electricity, and Game Design.  Book early on T48.org to get your choice.

NEW YORK RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR, December 27 – 30, 2024 

We have two openings available. Please talk to Ms. White or Mr. Browning.

See New York City decorated for Christmas!! 

Final Payment is due by Nov. 27th. PRICE PER PERSON: Quad room per person $1,410

Fundraising for NYC Trip: See Mrs. White to support a scout by buying Krispy Kreme Card or Little Caesar pizza (We have bought a lot of cards. Please take some and sell them or we will lose money).

Personal Management and Landscape Architecture badges dropped in gym were not claimed. 

Scouts that need 7c Second Class requirement:  Participate in a school community or a troop program on the dangers of drug  alcohol, tobacco, and other harmful substances.   Mr. John White will have a class at the September 3rd troop meeting.
