August 13 Eagle Court of Honor – invite your family and friends to celebrate the 30+ ranks, 180+ merit badges, and a bunch of other recognitions to be presented!! Wear Class A/formal uniform.
Cook-off News:
We were very thankful for Mr. Howard as he worked hard to give a full Top Chef experience !!
Eagle: Patrol box clean AND best meal top price a golden can opener and $100 dollars to upgrade their patrol box!!!! ( prizes donated )
Fox: Second place with the best dessert and Amazing meal $50 to upgrade their patrol box
Panther: Third place with a well-rounded well-cooked meal $20 to upgrade their patrol box.

Dick Tracy Rock, Friday, Aug 9 at 4:00 PM – Sunday, Aug 11 at 5:00 PM
We are offering a Friday night experience to older youth (age 14 by September 1st and First Class rank). All others are welcome to join on Saturday (8:00 AM CHPC) for what would be a standard DTR weekend. THIS IS NOT A TRUCK IN EVENT. DO NOT TAKE PATROL BOXES, LARGE STOVES, ETC. Trip Sheet Packing List
Grayson Highlands Backpack/Truck-In, Saturday, Aug 24 7 AM – Sunday, Aug 25 3 PM
*Space is limited to 30 truck-in campers and 16 backpackers (looking for 7 to 8 drivers)
Trip consists of 2 parts:
(A) 9-mile Backpacking Trip from Visitor Center parking lot at Massie Gap to “Scales” area via part of the Appalachian Trail and Wilson Creek Trail. Camping will be west of Third Peak. Trails are rated “moderate difficulty.”
(B) Truck-in Camping in the Hickory Ridge Campground, check-in at 4:00 PM. Sites 15, 16, 17, 18, and 20 are available with 2 vehicles per site and 6 persons per site. Day hikes and blueberry
picking are special activities available. Will hold a campfire, so bring stories, jokes, and songs to share. Church services are planned for Sunday. Vehicle shuttles will be used between the campground and Massie Gap. Booking and Trip Sheet
Surgoinsville Labor Day Flag Retirement, Saturday Aug 31 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Come participate in a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Surgoinsville Riverfront Festival. Enjoy live music, games, inflatables, and meet veterans helping retire the flags.
Patrol Duties!!! August
- Ceremonies: Flaming Arrow
- Food Box: Wolf
- Game Guides: Shark
- PLC Host (August 13 COH ) and troop set-up (each week): Eagle
- Service: Panther / Phoenix (Clean up and leadership assistance)
- Can Recycling: Panther
- Grounds: Fox (Please rake the playground mulch, put rocks back in garden beds that are in the parking lot, empty trash by the play yard and pick up litter around church grounds.)

August 4 Rally Day and Blessing of the Backpacks. Would love any scouts to attend who wish to participate as we celebrate students and educators getting back to school.

August 9 Annual August Splash Down at Kingsport aquatic center from 6:30-8pm. Free for all
August 25 for our Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event! 10am. Help those in need. Our challenge is to pack 16,750 meals in two hours.
