Great trip for truck-in campers as well as serious backpackers. Campers will stay in the Wilderness Trail Campground and enjoy relaxed camping, hiking trails, the overlook, and the visitor center with interpretive Wilderness Road museum. Backpackers will hike the challenging trail to Sand Cave. Please see the trip sheet for details and T48.org sign up soon. Everyone will have a great time!!
Patrol/Troop Elections – Change to Class B uniform (May 7)
Time to determine leadership roles within the patrols plus Senior Patrol Leader. Every patrol binder should have a copy of the patrol and troop job descriptions, so please review as a group before this date. It is also when uniform expectations change from formal to casual, thus until November any scouting or troop themed shirt with official green scout pants and socks.
Backpacking Introduction at Bays Mountain Park (May 18-19)
Introduction to backpacking by trekking to the primitive campground past Feagans Gap in Bays Mountain Park for an overnighter. Good for new scouts as it starts with pack inspection at CHPC to ensure the right gear is present. Good for those who need backpacking cooking for the merit badge if they step forward to take lead on meal planning. Sign up on T48.org and pay $5 camping fee (scouts and adults) to troop treasurer.
Summer Camp (June 16-22)
Full payment is due now to Mr. Browning as the troop is making final payment to council. Flaming Arrow was first to have all attending registered in T48.org and fully paid to win the Patrol Summer Camp Challenge. Second place was Leadership Corps. Third, Shark.
